Today marks the beginning of something I have a long time to start.
Today I launched the "Survivor Chronicles" Project. An ongoing project that will dive into many aspects of trauma and how its survivors have overcome, or not overcome their past, present and future.
As a survivor of sexual, domestic, mental, and physical abuse, I have seen my fair share of trauma. I have walked, sprinted, and tumbled down paths that I should not have taken to desperately find the healing I now patiently search for. I made calculated decisions, rash spur-of-the-moment choices, and blind judgments in a flailing attempt to escape the abuse I had sustained over the years, only to find myself farther down the rabbit hole and deeper in a cycle of narcissistic mind-bending and manipulation by those who surrounded me. And that was only after I "left" the most blatant abuse.
My goal with the Survivor Chronicles is to not only tell my story but to allow others to do the same. And I plan to do that by doing what I do best: by creating. I have tried to do this a few times before, but I don't think the timing was right. I wasn't in the right place to be the conduit I needed to be to allow others to express themselves. I was too much in my own head to allow that to happen.
But now, I want to use my artistic abilities to tell each and every single person's story as beautifully as possible. I want to use photography to capture the rawest moments, video to record the naked words of wounded souls, and put together a piece that will speak to those who need to hear our words.
I can't promise that it won't be painful. Digging into the most painful parts of our past is like digging at a scab that has never truly healed. For some, it will be like ripping off a bandaid very slowly. For others, it will be cathartic. But what I can promise is that there are those that need to hear it. They need to see that that they are not alone.
If you are interested in being part of this project, head over to Facebook and join our private group. There you will be able to stay up to date on what is going on, contact me, and find a community of people who are ready to tell the world their story!
If not, check back here, as I will do my best to keep everyone out in the world up to date on the happenings behind the scenes.
